The Thought

by Andrew Packard   May 14, 2014

"The Thought"

It struck me like thunder
I stood and I wonder
Was this thought I just had -for real?

It seized me up dumbfounded
My mind fogged and clouded
As I searched for what emotion to feel.

Shattering like unexpected news
Irreversible like Robert Johnson blues
Spiritual scar that will never heal.

This thought came like an unwanted guest
Into your soul to obsess and detest
Eyes glaze as you slip into the surreal.

Unjustified guilt building panic attack
A lost premonition that's never coming back
Body and blood run hot; creeping skin peel.

This thought pierces like a needle outside space-time
Snatching me upward infusing me with the sublime
The logical consequences of this thought must never be revealed!!

That was really good, love the structure and rhyme pattern; had a certain flow which added finesse :)
