Misery Neverlasting

When she kissed me for the first time
I realized that my bleeding feet
were anchored to the ground
by the thorny shackles of despair

and when I saw her wings
causing a total eclipse
I knew the beauty of flying free
to be greater than any poetic pain

O the halo of her golden hair,
such a worthy crown for a queen --
shining brighter than diamonds,
guiding me out of oblivion:

So I had to break my chains
and create my own wings
to follow her into eternity,
and beyond the limits of common sense

Because she sought to nullify death
through perpetuating our love,
writing happiness on the cheat sheet
to generic exam depressions;

inspiring hope beyond barricades,
so that even we, the once silenced
and the oppressed, would preach
misery neverlasting

All this time my heartbeats
have played euphoric symphonies
singing love, hope, and energy,
depriving me of the need to sleep

And these irreplaceable moments
with my beautiful Star of the East
have eradicated all doubt and shown me
how impermanent suffering can be
