Red Woman (Quatern)

by Maple Tree   May 26, 2014

Red woman, light of morning sun
lullabies whisper your prized name
treasures fall like shiny raindrops
mapping a path to your dark soul.

Lovers coil like cobras of night,
red woman, light of morning sun
feeds upon the passion they share
hungry for more, stalking their love.

"Your Grace is barren of lost babes
my womb shall birth a demon child",
red woman, light of morning sun
takes a King to her rotted heart.

Corpses echo warnings of fear
oceans drown the ashes in blood
deathly footsteps mark her revenge,
red woman, light of morning sun.

A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme.

I've always loved your poems and you're the 1st person that inspired me to start writing nature poems. Your nature pieces evoke feelings in me that no one ever did. You describe the truest forms of natures elements so exquisitely that one falls Inlove with your poems at first read.

I don't have the right words to describe the grace, Red Woman exudes. So enchanting and heart warming. And even if I do I don't think I have the right to comment on this beautifully penned piece. The imagery is so graphical as if I'm watching screen-lees tv in my mind. You're truly an inspiration to me. I'll always be indebted to you.
