Like Bees Buzzing

by Everlasting   Jun 14, 2014

In the silence of a chapel, I prayed
for you to hear me
And you heard me praying;
Murmuring in my thoughts
Like bees pollinating flowers
Like bees fleeing to a hive,
You heard me
Buzzing buzzing in prayer

Until you gave me honey
No, until you helped me
Make honey out of these flowers
Out these fields that germinate
infertile soils
With sprouts of love
With seeds of love
You helped me make
Honey

I was just praying.
Until you heard me.

Until you helped me make honey
Until you gave me milk to drink
Until I didn't just received nectar.

Just as a flower knows that bees will come to it that is how we too will know that God hears our prayers. For everything in this world has a reason to be made/born and its prayers are never unheard. So like a flower you stand in prayer in front of God and one day see so many of you spread across the lawn.

I find this symbolic, inspiring as well as encouraging..loved it.

The metaphor for a bee is not used a lot in poetry especially this way. Though I am not religious I really liked the way you worded this. I think here you compare yourself well to the bee or you are the bee. But instead of flowers or honey you want to be heard. I guess in the end "miracles" can be your honey in this case because that is in turn the end result of a prayer or a bee making honey. I really liked the twist in the middle as well. About the seeds. Without seeds a flower cannot grow and that makes the bee "worthless" in a way. And without the seeds that grow within you you will not grow with god. I thought that was a very clever line.

I loved the ending lines as well because even though it might take a bee a long time to make honey. It is worth it and in turn it is worth it for you to keep praying because even if only one gets heard it will make you happy and you will have your honey or happiness. Great write and great metaphor very deep. 5/5
