Solitude and Lonliness

by LoneWolf   Jun 15, 2014

Have you ever felt lonely?
Like few people are ever there?
Though many surround you,
you act like you don't care.

Ever been in that one spot,
Where nobody ever goes.
That one spot which is silent and without words,
That one spot you disclose.

Solitude is great at times,
It is something we all tend to enjoy.
But it's constancy has its drawbacks,
Though it's presence we much employ.

Too much of solitude brings great loneliness,
It brings a side effect that no one likes.
It gives you a feeling inside that takes long to go away,
a feeling which towards the heart it strikes.

A feeling of being alone no matter where you are,
With no one to talk to or hold.
A feeling that seems so maddening,
A feeling so very cold.

This feeling I cannot stand,
It sends me into madness.
Inside a world with no one else to talk to,
As I spiral into sadness.

Being social I'm sure is worse,
So I have been shown.
Though solitude has its disadvantages,
I feel I am best alone.

Like all the three comments above..... I can totally relate. Been there, felt that harsh pain which in itself gives some weird sort of comfort.

In the beginning of the poem, I couldn't really connect with it or I wasn't enjoying it much but from the third paragraph onwards...... I absolutely was hooked to it. Completely loved it.
Well that has quite a different reason too other than your poem being excellent.....
I kinda wrote a line something like this too which was the very first poem I wrote so I could relate to you more. :-P ....
Just mentioning... My lines were :
    Silence is not bad
But can sometimes make you mad.

I enjoyed felt and what not did I go through while reading the poem.
I guess this poem pretty much is the life of every person on this site....
Although solitude is a mad drive to your home (your heart).... We still tend to enjoy it and being alone suits us best at the end.

Very well written that immediately connects the reader with your feeling and what you wanted to convey. A sad and sorrowful poem which somehow made me happy....

    Keep writing and sharing

I'm not the way I was when I wrote this poem. I moved away from a place that was bad for me. I was surrounded by people who looked down on me. I moved on. I'm confident, I've self-esteem, and I have turned from a complete pessimist to an optimist. Im not lonely anymore and I'm glad. I won't go back

Man I can so relate to this poem, I really like your title, it drew me in right away because most of us on this site write through our pain and loneliness.

I like how you create that battle between being alone, but about being safe alone, it becomes safer than being sociable. I get that.

Been there and felt it too. Though solitude and loneliness can eat you inside out, at times it is good for it gives you time to reflect too. Your final stanza sums it up nicely...well penned.
