Me?

by Beautiful Chaos   Jun 17, 2014

You call me elegant
Maybe, I'm a word smith of sorts
But elegant?
In this universe, flattery

This speck of dust
Elegant?
I suppose I can live with that
If not fathom

I suppose we are all
"elegant"
In some manner
If by nothing more than basic design

I've never felt elegant
Maybe smart on a good day
To see past my own mess
Maybe glimpse majesty, almost impossible

My feminine wiles
Well maybe they're elegant
The soft lips of wanton whispers
The anticipation of sanctuary

I do have a few soft spots
And a few warm
Maybe it's all in your head
The birthplace of elegance

I really like how reflective this piece is and the emphasis on what defines "elegance".... is it in the way we appear, the way we act or hold ourselves? It could be flattery or it could mean, like you wrote, that we carry life in a certain way. We are classic, simple in our most basic design. I also like how you give examples of how you might be elegant, yet you're still brainstorming, not fully buying the idea this person has said. The last stanza is beautiful, you don't go into much detail but it leaves it open for the reader... we all have "warm/soft" spots where we may be seen as sophisticated perhaps, yet this person holds this perspective of you, and their mind is where elegance begins.

Thanks for sharing; have a good day!
