Standing in the Street

by Melissa Coffman   Jun 28, 2014

Standing in the street

She watched the cars whiz by

Each one blowing up her skirt

She tried to remember

How did she get here?

A husband

A child

A job

Now madness and nothingness

A car swerved as she stepped closer

She had nothing left

Oh she had her doctors

And her 12 pills

And her concerned parents

That could just about fill a suitcase

She wanted to find sanity again

She almost knew that it was possible

She stepped back up to the curb

Maybe today all she had was one suitcase

Maybe tomorrow she could fill two
