401 (A Poem About Long Distance Relationship)

by Stargirl   Jul 1, 2014

Beautiful man on the other side of the 401,
Would you meet me halfway?
Or should we just stop and declare this fairytale over?
Typical summer romance, some would say
Small town boy and city girl
But I'd like to believe we're just stars
Belonging to different constellations
He's a million miles away
And the distance swallows me thin everyday
Why am I not surprised that he had the name of an angel?
Probably for his physicality of undeniable perfection,
And a laugh that can relieve a million pains
Like I've never been hurt before
After an upsetting day,
He never fails to calm the storms in the back of my mind
How could someone's voice feel like home when he's so far away?
He's my future favourite book, waiting to be read
The synopsis on the back cover is both terrifying
And overwhelming at the same time
But I'm itching to turn his pages
And I just can't seem to put him on the shelf and leave him unread
So don't blame me for wanting to hold him for a while
If I were sane, I had already given up
But then I think about his round eyes,
His red lips that clashes beautifully with his columbine skin
And the arches on his body welcoming me, inviting me in
So I wish you'd make this easy:
Be the one to put an end to this fairytale and give up on me
Because I just can't let you go
But while we wonder what our future holds,
I'll leave you with this poem
