This is such a fantastic poem, I can't believe no one has commented this.

First, I love the rhyming scheme to it, it is not full on, just subtle and I think for me it really works for the flow of the poem. Your tone is kept the same throughout, aiming that message of abandonment at this captain, whom you followed solidly.

the wording is really great and I like your language choice of using some of the slang terms, and abbreviated wording just as it would be spoken. this isn't often done, but in this case it works.

I really enjoyed this, thought it was quite a touching poem and realistic to today's services and those who serve.
