Half way to happiness

by Mylie   Jul 8, 2014

You fueled me with fire, you gave me a reason to write. now that I'm happy its hard to be a poet. now that I'm half way to happiness, and there is no more misery in me.
The dark soul turned to light and now my creativity has died

Why is it that I have so much emotion when my life has become bad? you gave me the gift of poems, I gave you the gift of a song.

So maybe our time together wasn't a waste after all, you gave me a book of misery, a few scars to remind me that I have overcome my love for you.

You made me hit rock bottom, you made me feel the lowest of the low. you sank me like a boulder, you wrecked me like a piece of wet paper but finally I can say I gave up on the hopes and dreams.

The life of you and me and now I can say I'm half way to happiness.

Wow, this poem really does show one end of the scale to the other. So many people will relate to that happiness and sadness part affecting their writing, I especially can understand this because I seem to write sad and depressing work, and when I feel happy, I don't feel the need to write. you have described this so well.

Please consider playing about with your layouts, I worry that your work will go unnoticed, and it definitely is worthy of reading.

Im glad that you understand my feelings on being able to write when im upset or angry. I find it very hard to write anything but sad poetry and when im happy too I don't feel the need to write. Its crazy that a lot of others feel that way too, my ex was a musician and wrote songs that is why I mentioned I gave him the gift of a song.

Yes im taking your advice and edited all my new poems :) thank you for your advice, I appreciate it very much
