Oh Larry, this is heartbreaking... such a tangible yearning for that beach, for an escape where she can have a chance to be happy and forget any worries. Those last two lines took my breath away. The tone of innocence and purity in this girl giving to others and sacrificing her happiness even, it's very touching.

So sorry that I missed this poem until now, but congrats on the win, what a truly touching little scene. I always struggle to keep my poetry short, but you have taken such a small idea, and created this beautiful scene. This is reminded me of a young women who tries to please every one else in her life, through her kind nature, but she never puts herself first, or allows her own feelings to be considered. It reminded me of a young mother also. Trying her best for her family.

I also got a sense of a very young child, perhaps in a sad state of circumstances, like a young carer for a family member. And she has to put her life on hold, in order to help the life of another. This poem would fit this topic very well.

    Nice work Sir L.

Thanks, I must say when Rosaura turned to me with "that" expression and said "where's my beach?" the poem wrote itself in minutes. One of the few I have not revised ad nauseum.

    Lovely.
I can sense that it's about a mother who places everything and everyone on the top of her priorities list, while forgetting herself. Hence, the sad category.

The beach theme came handy at painting the picture and adding a little bit of happiness, which shows that although she's always occupied and doesn't have time for herself, she's not sad about what she's doing. at least I felt that.

    congrats on the win.

A (very late) congratulations on the win! What's amazing to me is how you can tell her story and paint that emotion in those few lines... and how you wrote it close to home, when witnessing your wife's expression. Very moving indeed.

Oh Larry got me crying with this poem~
So many times people give their all and forget that they too need relaxation and comfort, so I took this on a personal level and could relate.
I feel he is writing of a flight attendant perhaps and her endless hours of care and work she gives to her passengers, flying them to vacation spots and she is possibly in need of a sandy beach as well...

    This poem was wonderful!
