Lost Love

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 12, 2014

You once took a chance
on rescuing me, and I was
never able to show you
how much my love grew deeper
since that day.

I let go of your hand
so many times; too
afraid of being saved by love.

My love for you
became buried inside,
where I believed it
would be safe.

(Only, in doing so, I lost
the chance to really love you,
like you had always loved me.)

And now I realise
much too late, that I lost
my entire world on the
day you took your final breath,
and took your love away.

I really love how you started this poem out. Taking a chance on love or rescuing someone can be a very difficult task when someone feels depressed. The way you started this out is beautiful because you want to know more about how they saved you. Love seems to always grow everyday... But from the start you can tell its heartbreaking because of the wording you use. I can see this person being hurt so many times that they are afraid to fall in love again and letting go of their hand shows you hesitate on showing your true feelings.

I personally don't think its ever safe to bury your feelings at all. Because then you might regret it later on. I like the image you capture though. What I see is a girl struggling to let go and in the end they are hurt more so burying their feelings. I really liked the fourth stanza because you show that moment where regret kicks in and they realize that it is too late. This is a great poem because to me you stayed with a good flow and story. Well done.

It's hard to read this piece since I too went through this pain constantly you think of "what ifs" like "what if I had said 'I love you'" would that have changed my outcome from something to nothing? The pain of a love not said hurts a lot more than a love said although both hurt great work hope the heart heals
