Old Glory: Why I love Trees

by Maple Tree   Jul 16, 2014

I can stare at a tree
for hours upon hours,
soaking in moss patches
bark shavings, knot holes
and everything beautiful
on the outside of glory.

When a tree falls to slumbering
sorrow is when I count the circles of life,
reading history with a rotating
formation of my index finger.

Sap lands upon my cheek
from a weeping leaf and
it is at that very moment
where bonding begins
to transform tween
nature lover and a towering
giant she calls friend.

I often escape to the shadows
of their amazing silhouettes that rest
before me, for they whisper and listen,
often times being the only true friend
I have....

I placed a leaf upon my soul
the day I learned to tie my shoes-
I shall return home, deep
within the soil of creation-

shoes will no longer be needed.

I have always felt attach to trees. I grew up and we had orange, mandarin, and peache trees in our yard. Ever since, I have always thought, " when I die, plant above me many seeds, so it may grow into a tree and perhaps as I decompose, I may somehow repay Mother Nature for all the damage, I may, consciously or unconsciously, have inflicted upon it"

Ah, I don't know why but this poem stirred back those thoughts in me. Trees are wonderful. I can spend hours observing them. Often even without have thoughts, just relax. I have missed climbing into a branch and watch the sky. And haha also eat mandarins, or oranges while at it. Good memories. Lovely write maple.

There are some lines that caught my attention:

I shall return home, deep within the soil of creation.

Maple this is an excellent write. You are no doubt an ardent fan of nature.

    soaking in moss patches

The pain on falling of a tree is so vividly described ,you have put all your feelings

    count the circles of life
    Sap lands upon my cheek
    from a weeping leaf

The comparison so well portrayed in this simile

    to transform tween
nature lover and a towering giant

We can learn so much from nature, grow into mature beings

You make it so touchy at the end

    I shall return home,deep
    within the soil of creation-

So touched by your love for nature. We all at the end of our lives will be one with nature.
