Pray Tell Me

O you who remain
with your eyes open to truth,
pray tell me, honestly, am I a liar
if I claim to have run out of desires?

For we live in a cruel world
that turns our promises into massacres;
where I couldn't drink the water
that filled up her lungs -

I could not banish her shadows
to the concrete towers and monkey bars
where fiends and kings make love
to that which is dreadfully beautiful;

I carved her name into my spine,
riding it out into the ocean where
our dreams of becoming angels
felt too surreal to be taken seriously.

Yet dawn nears and my clothes are wet.
But even after an eternity of farewells
I'm stuck in the shadows of her abandoning,
all alone in a world of failed attempts -

Pray tell me, anyone, how do I make blessings
out of these bruises and loneliness,
and close the gaping hole
where my heart used to beat?

Pray tell me, anyone,
does it even matter anymore?

    O my this poem should've had a lot of comments it's too beautiful to be left alone and too emotionally heartfelt that it's breathe taking I like how it says your sorrows and the girls in a way for me I like the imagery but I love the second stanza because I'm a realist or is it a pessimist? Either way it was stunning great write! 5/5
