Ah dirty Lamp ( saffie's prompts)

by Everlasting   Jul 28, 2014

Ah dirty lamp, I found you on the ground
At the city of gold
I thought that if I rubbed you out of your dirtiness
I would find a heart of gold

Instead, with each rub, I was greeted with a dragon song
With a roar that scared me to the bones.
You told me what I did was an invasion of the soul
That I stripped you out of your old clothes.

But ah dirty lamp, you look so clean, so nice
Why do you turn your sanity off?
My hidden agenda was to help you shine.
Not for you, to grant me wishes, goofball.

dragon song
hidden agenda
city of gold
invasion of the soul
heart of gold

I really enjoyed this little read and the word goofball made me laugh. Well done with the prompts! By the way in this line:

    I would find a heart a gold

^^Did you mean a heart of gold...?

Lol! haha, I can't remember the last poem I read that really made me giggle, the word goofball at the end just instantly made me laugh! What a great word, and a great place to insert it at the end!

I really like this little story, and the magic lamp. When I listed these prompts, I did wonder if people would attempt it. The challenge in this set was city of gold, and heart of gold, being together, and not making it sound cliché or too close to each other that it didn't work. But you done this great! I would never of thought of using the heart of gold, from a city of gold... or using the lamp!

This was a bit like a fable, in there is a small hidden message here about society and how we make assumptions.

Great job, I really enjoyed this!
