Pillar In My Life

by Meena Krish   Aug 13, 2014

You have seen me in my worst

and cheered on till I became the best,

picked me up from the deepest dirt

a precious heart I've savored from birth,

Your the pillar in my life bold and tall

who left me to scribble pain on a wall,

now all I have is your floral shawl

to cradle me whenever I fall.

Meena this reminds me so much of the old folk time nursery rhyme Rock a bye baby- The rhyme flows like a song and the message is truly emotional... I take a few angles with this piece as well, but to sum it up- strength to rise above obstacles come to mind.

Beautiful and touching poem by you!

Wow, I truly love this piece, and the layout of it is very appealing. It looks beautiful, and is incredibly touching to read.

The beauty in your words, telling the story of the bond which saved you, made you stronger , and, like the title suggests, become a pillar in your life. But then to have this person leave, shows how devastating it is to have lost that pillar.
I think pillar was such a powerful word to use, because straight away you think of "holding something up" "keeping it alive" and this also shows clearly the destruction occurring when the pillar is not there. Collapsing.

This is a very heart breaking write, to lose someone we really love, especially a bond such as this child to her parent, is something so precious and painful, and yet it can create absolutely beautiful poetry, in which others can feel comfort from.

    Nice work. x

Very nice work with the rhymes and the message of the poem. The loss of the pillar in your life replaced with memories and a shawl to take your place. Powerful words and emotions.

Loved these lines as they depict how badly you are missing your mom in times of despair .

Loved the rhyming verse in perfect flow.
