A Heart's Healing

by Daizia   Aug 21, 2014

When you left, did you think I could forget?
I have never been that strong.
You were the one who picked up all the pieces,
made me believe in promises,
fixed all of my wrongs,
healed all of my scars.
When you left, did you think it would hurt?
Well it did.
You were my everything,
the one I believed in,
someone I trusted,
a man I thought I knew.
When you left, did you think of me?
No you didn't.
I know because there's no one here to wipe my tears,
they still lay dry on my cheeks, on my pillow,
your engaged now with a baby on the way,
your cheating ways got you so far, leaving me behind.
When you left, did you think of you?
Of course not.
If you had, you would've finished senior year instead,
made something better of your life,
followed all of your dreams,
become the man you wanted to be.
When you left, was I ok?
Yes.
I've realized love will wait for me forever,
that I'm not alone.
My heart is still beating, and without you:
I'm ok.
