Happiness.

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 21, 2014

It comes with shiny tops,
it shimmers, glimmers, simmers at
the warmth of a flame-

inhaling all city breath then
exhaling incense that leaves my teeth
minty and smokey.

It glides, rides, confides
on mantel pieces where forsaken
hearts draft for comfort.

It's young, it's inexperienced,

it will use its wings and fly away, soon.

This may sound random, but my inspiration for this was Bath and Body Works and some candles I just picked up. Sometimes it's the little things we don't need that get us excited.... but it could go much deeper than that of course :D

It put smile on my lips. I like what you did with shimmers, glimmers, simmers, it was fun to read it. At first I had no clue what you were talking about until I read the note. Then it made sensed. I think I wasnt sure what uou were talking about because of the last part, "it will use its wings and fly away soon." After re-reading I though you might be speaking of the candles. Then it was funny to imagine a candle with real wings lol. Up to that point I wasn't sure if you were still talking about the candles or not. Or if you were describing how you were feeling as the candles were burning.

Overall, I like the cheerfulness in this piece.
