Gallant

by Madison   Aug 31, 2014

Masked in alabaster pale and hallow
we look in ways that shatter superstition
the words and emotions hidden beneath
just a small mirror of flesh
flesh to flesh and skin to skin
these fleeting joys fading like frost
brushed aside with cool regard
dropped at once like heat to hot
whether spoken softly
hushed and still
breaking and falling
pushing away
the solace of finding the pain freely taken
reformed to accomplish the death of two lovers
almost through with living
and taking and touching
left to the earth and the rain
they love hating

The final three lines of this piece stand out the most to me but the entire piece is stunning and I really love the word choice it's got an unusual feel surrounding normal everyday words and the tone is remarkably formed along side a greatly crafted flow. excellent write.
