Sorrow wakes between my sheets.

by Poet on the Piano   Sep 4, 2014

I wonder if Earth grieves the
same way souls do,
riding memories like waves
in high faith that the tides
won't suffocate them.

Grey silence teases,
reminding me that the
colors of this world
will eventually fade,
the hearts we share
merely watercolors
on an aged canvas;
hope is an altruist
often forgotten
when skies mourn
black and blue.

And I wait for the deluge,
eyes - crescent moons
lighting up darkness...
wondering if I could withstand
a mighty flood, echo Noah's
strength and trust,
the hand of a Savior my
one foundation.

But it hasn't rained,

yet.

Written 9/01/14 for my poetry class. We simply had to create a poem with strong imagery which, to me, is an open prompt, but I was inspired by the rainy weather on Labor Day morning.

Edit on 11/21/14: original title was "Lament" but this poem was up for workshop in my class and the suggestion was made to make my first line the title.

I am really unsure how i missed this piece, this one especially has imagery that blew me away. I love the art metaphors you decided to play with and how your inspiration came from something as simple as some rain. Great job of taking and idea and running with it.

    Yet another stunning piece.
