The Lie

by Abed   Sep 7, 2014

Collect
every civil lesson we've been taught,
every history book, and patriotic poem.
Confiscate from schools and colleges,
from summits and ceremonies,
from every throat in this homeland,
all the records of our national anthem.
Pile them up in the nearest container,
and put them on fire.

Because home and humanity,
patriotism and identity,
honor, sacrifice, and loyalty,
are this life's
biggest
lie.

    Abed,

An excellent write full of truth. If only we could do this and start afresh and take humanity back.

    All the best, Em

    Hello Abed

A powerful and depressing piece that builds to the expected end. I say depressing simply because of the truth I can feel inherent in your moving words.

    Great piece,
