Always Watching, Always Listening

by WritingtheStars   Sep 16, 2014

The walls have ears,
my dear,
as I'm sure you've heard.
You can't say anything
without risking everyone hearing.

The walls, such gossips,
they don't know how
to keep a secret.
They'd tell everyone
they know.

But did they tell you?
The ceiling,
it has eyes that follow
every little move
you make.

Don't mess up, no,
else everyone will know
how messed you truly are.
And we can't have that,
now can we?

Just pose pretty,
my dear,
smile sweetly at the masses,
and be the little doll
everyone expects you to be.

Great poem!! I was drawn into this one like it was capturing me! It seems true the way the wall and ceiling can hide so many secrets. You wrote something that most people seem to overlook. I guess that saying "behind closed doors" fits into this piece. So many things happen behind the wall, they know many secrets. And yet they keep us silent without saying a word. Like we must do right or else all will see!!
    Amazing job! 5/5
