Love Without Loving

by Meena Krish   Sep 20, 2014

What we have...
is the tenderness of a snowflake
that prints its kiss on autumn's leaf,
compassion which awakes-
butter on a plate of grief;

What we share...
is the birth of spring
where mornings reveal crumpled
sheets of our fling,

ours is a masterpiece
of pastel colored life and stormy
clashes which leaves a crease;

Yet our seasoned hearts
never sway... instead,
embrace each others
unique art;

What we have...
is a love without loving,
but valuing-
a love that is born
from the ashes of resented thorns.

    Meena,

    This is a wonderfully written poem that is so rich in detail and excellently worded throughout.
    As has been mentioned below, the title is excellent and instantly drew me in. It certainly got me thinking about what this love game thing is all about!
    All the very best and I hope you are well,
    Ben

    I like the title of this poem so much. Everyone can have it's unique intrepretation of this poem but the title says it all. Sometimes in some couples life, one of them seems to ignore how much the other wanted to hear just this little four letter words sometimes L.O.V.E. Don't assume that the other knew that you love them already. Affection is security. When you feel cherished it gives you strength.

    Good write-5/5 True love is action and not words but SHOW me you love me. Many think a sex act is love but I say it can be the result of true love or not, maybe the self satisfaction of one or the other or one trying to selflessly satisfy the other because of true love? Ken

    What a really lovely poem, it left me thinking quite deeply about the relationships we have through out our life, and your wording here says so much.

    The relationship reminds me if couples who stay together, because they think it is better than to be alone, even though the love is not alive inside their hearts. I believe sometimes people even cool themselves into believing their is love, but deep down they know it is not true.

    I love the imagery this poem holds in the metaphors, the nature descriptions and comparisons, especially your opening of the snowflake missing a leaf!! Then going into the crunchy leaves and bed sheets being crumpled, yet the bed is empty.

    Title in this poem is really relevant to what your poem is saying, and also to many people who have had this type of relationship but perhaps never have managed to describe it, I believe your title does just that, it is loving someone and accept them loving you - without the love!

    Amazing job!
