Worried Love (Conversation Poetry)

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 4, 2014

Do not love me today, if you won't love me tomorrow.

Why my love for you will stay each day, and grow along the way.

But what will I do, if along the way, you decide
you don't want to stay?

That, my dear, will never happen, for my heart too
will always belong to you.

This I know, but worries me so, for what if your words
are not true?

Then my dear, I you will just have to trust, and take a chance in something new.

So lovely, these are the doubts I'm sure, that plague all those infected with the virus of love."for what if your words are not true?"this is a question I treat like an itch that can't be scratched, every relationship I'm in I question his motives, are his words true, is this really love, why is he here?

When I read this, I read it kind of in an old timey movie or old English, I think this is beautiful and true in a lot of ways. The first line does set up the poem well and that conversation is sad. It seems like one half of the poem is about a person wanting their love to stay forever and the other person is scared of falling for a person who won't love them everyday. I can definitely see both sides though. Who wouldn't want the person they love to stay forever but when you have been hurt there will be a little reserved feelings that come out. Love is difficult to trust in but rewarding if you find the right person. I love the shortness of this, but it holds such a strong message. 5/5
