Behind The Mirror

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 5, 2014

Behind the mirror
stands a girl I used to know,
for I used to be her friend not too long ago.

But as this girl grew
we began to drift apart,
enemies emerged within this girl's heart.

A kettle of silence
boiled tempers deep within,
now she never feels
like she belongs in her own skin.

And now behind the mirror
this evil shadow stands,
for their battled heart is fading fast
and the girl I used to know
is still trapped inside her past.

This poem shows deep emotion. For sadness can last for years and we might not always know it, but then it hits us hard and it's difficult to overcome. Mirrors can definitely be our worst enemy. We always fight a war with ourselves and lose because we cannot cope with what we have become. Mirrors show a reflection of our true self most of the time. Between now and the past we grow and so does our pain a lot of the time. I like how this story unfolds though. It was wonderful. I believe you are talking about where you are and how you miss the girl you used to be. But the girl inside of you is trying to escape from the depression and just cannot anymore.

On the very last line insider should be inside. Otherwise great poem!
