Playing With Fire

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 6, 2014

Another brick wall
bangs against my head,
as I try to pretend
it will leave no mark behind.

Your love is becoming untouchable
for it is killing me inside,
and I keep chasing faiths
that I cannot seem to find.

We do not play with fire
because that's what we're told,
but here I am without a shield
risking it all for you.

So with my shining armour,
I brave the roaring flames,
hoping to burn the bridges
by taking a chance on you.

What an intense emotional poem.I love how you've taken a cliche"bang my head against a brick wall"and made it completely new and owned it"another brick wall bangs against my head" a brilliant, subtle use of personification which creates a really intense (though I admit slightly humerous, or maybe it's my distorted humour) image, so incredible, again,a strong, daring piece that grips the reader from start to finish.
