First stanza: I love this! I believe you are saying that your heart is "chained up" as it is being guarded because you have been hurt in the past. The snake could be represented as a person from your past who hurt you. I like the use of snake because they can be deviously charming and be nice, until they show their true colors. Then that's when things start to change.

Second: With each day that passes it is more difficult to feel that pressure around your heart and with that you get hurt more. You don't want anyone to see how much you truly hurt, because you will be seen as weak and all you want to do is stay strong.

Third: No emotional pain can truly be mended, because I feel like it will be there lingering. I do like this stanza because it is true. The person holding the key to your heart is the one staring back at you when you look into the mirror everyday. Though the last stanza is very true as well.

Ending: Sometimes starting over is the best thing for our hearts. If you give the key to your heart go someone else they can unlock it, if you let them. It might be difficult at first, but worth it. Love the title, it goes with the main point of the poem. Thank you for taking part in my challenge, 5/5
