I can feel it in the cold fall air
Subtle, yet it is clearly here
Its presence dancing upon my skin
Whispering words not quite clear

My pounding heart fills the silence
What is this that I begin to fear?
Hands shaking steadily
As cheeks shine from fresh tears

Cool hands reach for my throat
Squeezing the last of my warm breath
Choking, I sputter out a single cry
Knowing this is the day of my death

Suddenly a liquid fire fills my veins
Never have I felt so much pain
Yet, quietly almost hidden underneath
Is a wanting need to do this again

I let my body fall limp into its arms
Giving into this strange sensation
My blood is on fire yet I want more
Burning desire for sudden salvation

As quickly as it started, it stops
Pounding heart is no more
Warm breath now an icy chill
My blood splattered upon the floor

Without warning, it lets me go
I waiver slightly on my unsure feet
Like a rush of wind on a lit candle
Its presence disappears from the street

I realize with a sudden clarity
That I have become something new
Already my stomach rumbles loudly
And I know just what to do
