Lamenting (Tanka)

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 19, 2014

A lingering grief
resurfaces each autumn-
falling from my eyes
like dying summer leaves from
winter's hibernating trees.

This flow is outstanding and perfect, it seems like each word fit perfectly with the next and this is a hard form to wrire. The content of the poem is definitely sad. It seems like each Autumn there is something from your past that lingers within you and recurs over again. A loss of a loved one maybe? I'm not sure. I also love nature within a sad poem, as it adds so much to a poem. You can really express how you are feeling and show how you are feeling through imagery. Example the winter, the leaves falling onto the ground, could represent you here. You are the leaf and winter is taking over your self worth. That feeling is cold and depressing. Anyway great write overall!
