It is difficult to approach this poem, MaryAnne, without first acknowledging that I was raised on the same Roman Catholic icons you place in your work. However, in this event, I believe, they are the means by which you address your abiding closeness to the angel-comforter, than necessarily as a profession of faith. The technique is well done and leads the reader into understanding the camaraderie you portray as it were perfectly normal to awaken such a person at ungodly hours without fear of rejection. |

A very descriptive poem filled with metaphors and vivid imagery, yet also focuses on life and how comfort is there, when we decide to accept it and not run from it. The poem really shows the strength of faith, of holding on and not giving up, and the tone of the poem is a mixture of reflective, and positive thinking that in the end, things will be okay. This poem is a great uplifting read for anyone who is facing a dark time, and feels that no one, or nothing, is there for them. |
