Closure

"Abandoned your tongue and took residence inside my numb heart." Haha, yes. Choosing the word "abandoned" is what got me. That's why I voted excellent.

It's been almost a year
since your cheap apologies
abandoned your tongue
and took residence inside
my numb heart.

Sadly every girl in this planet can relate to this stanza. It's really sad that this happens but it really does happen to girls and to women alike. This stanza also doesn't beat around the bushes and gives you a clear and very unique blunt message! The line that made me laugh is the second and third line since I agree cheap apologies can be uttered but not really meant

But within that year
I have learned I was
better off alone,
than to waste any more
of my love on
someone who is unworthy
of my tears.

Love this since this is the realization that yes it hurt to be in love yes it hurt to trust in someone and have that someone destroy you in the past but they aren't worth your tears they aren't worth your time since they will many more in the future who will appreciate you! Great read I love reading poetry like this since the poem expresses women who find themselves and move on from the losers in their pasts. Thank you for making this poem 5/5

This was a powerful piece, and your voice is clear and provokes the reader... it shows yoru strength and how you have realized who is important in your life. It also made me think of the time we give people, the sacrifices we make, sometimes we must sit back and ask if it is worth it? If we can forgive or move on or let go of the hurt?

I really liked how you worded that this person's apologies abandoned their tongue... that was vivid and made me picture how many times a person can verbally say "I'm sorry", yet it never reaches us. As I've heard someone close to me say before, we can forgive but we cannot always heal right away or forget the pain.

Hopefully you find that love that is the purest kind of love, where there is honesty and each person commits, not just one.

Congrats on your win win in my contest hon. This is full of such sadness and hurt feelings it seems, like the first stanza, it seems like you could not forgive this person for the hurt that they caused you. "Cheap apologies" tells me that they didn't mean it when they said sorry which also tells me they meant to hurt you. And when you are in love that hurts the most I feel. It does take a long time to grieve, for you a year, and in that year you learned to cope and that you were better off alone then to be with someone who lies and hurts you. You cried a lot over this person but now you are stronger for it. Great write hon!
