Lost

by Taylor   Oct 28, 2014

I lost control
It slithered down the side of the bed like a snake
Slowly leaving the room with grace and intensity.

Some fell out of my ears
Dripping down my pillow
Like large clumps of ear wax

It spread from my fingers
Bouncing off the walls
on the way out the door

Oozing out of my toes
Puddles were forming on the floor
It was everywhere

Yet, nowhere I wanted it to be.

My eyes were all I had left.
It rolled down my cheek
Like a perfectly formed tear drop

Falling so slow
the salt burned my check
I could taste it in my lips.

That's when it all disappeared
I have never been so scared;
So completely helpless

    What a truly powerful write!

You really use a good mixture of metaphors here and I love how you have described that feeling if losing control, and how it seems to disappear everywhere except to the places you need it to be! Comparing it to a snake was a really great technique, then going on to describe the snake leaving the room, almost sniggering like it had stolen from you and then casually walked away!

    Brilliant write!
