All The Same

by oddi tea   Oct 30, 2014

Drifting atop a rickety raft of
confidence bound with fragile stands of self worth,
amid a sea of doubts,
pain and anxiety
who's breadth is matched only by
unfathomed leagues.

Soul bared to the world's harsh judging suns,
brilliantly colored orbs never setting yet light
and warmth are as void as the black holed windows
at their cores.

Delicate layers
of reconstructed self image constantly flayed
by skillful blades whispered on winds
muttered silently from unknown origins,
perhaps from a wayward butterfly?

Demands for common knowledge
cacophonous drowns out sweet melodies
of wisdom and compassionate understanding
needed to hear what never said.

Motion picture TV
shows staging people in glass houses
trying to avoid dropping their juggling eggs
while throwing stones at each other
so they don't have to walk on the shells.

When did we all forget we're are the same?

Wow, this poem holds so much depth within. It seems nowadays a lot of people are getting more depressed and anxious, about other people. It's quite sad because some people act like they own others and that makes a person feel like they are worthless. We judge and judge until death happens, then the person who died is blamed for there is nothing money can't buy, even silence. I love this poem because I believe it truly nails the world we live in nowadays and how people are more cold and cruel to each other. The last line, we are definitely all the same but there are differences that tear us a part. 5/5
