Injustice

by Baby Rainbow   Nov 2, 2014

In the courtroom of justice
young ones rejoice,
as sacred secrets are sealed
with a verdict of "found guilty".

But in the recess of fear
panic sets in, as the thought
of an enemy's revenge
haunts their fragile minds.

And in the headline
of the local news,
countless bodies are
found ashore.

Because three years
behind bars, will never
be enough justice
for the suffering
these young ones
endured!

    You are absolutely right, Saffie!

No sentence is enough to pay for a lifetime of suffering inflicted on a child or children!

    Well said!

Revenge is often bittersweet, when you do something do you taste guilt? Most do. Love the message of the poem and the point of view of the children here. The person that hurt them is found guilty. They are happy about that, but then they fear that after the three years is up, that revenge will be taken back upon them. Three years is not a long time really. It is often that we live in fear for something that we cannot control, I wonder why that is? You give off an eerie feeling at the end, with the bodies and are assuming this person killed them and that the children are next... Great write.
