Digitally Autistic

Dawn breaks to the digital sound
which has come to replace the familiar cock's crow

He logs on to get jacked
these days no longer waking
to aromatic smells from something that used to grow.
Not enough time in this fast pace digital world.

Showered with replies,
pokes, text, understand, friend requests
to snapshot before her ever feels warm water.

Outside is quiet even though
his phone is constant tweeting.
Sun's rays felt through high definition LED displaying
a sunny day in his online game while incandescent bulbs
light the tomb he calls home.

How can people call him antisocial
when he has everyone at his fingertips.
He's had dates with others
online swimming through the sea with Plenty of Fish,
finding his Match.com then checking his Craigslist
for naughty or nice.
People don't understand that for him the Bar is too low.

The looks he gets on the days when he's tired of all this
"human" interaction and exclaims at the top of his lungs,
"I've canceled my internet. I'm going for a walk. Who else wants to come?"
But nobody replies because
he said it with his mouth and not his thumb...
