Pushing away the space.

by Poet on the Piano   Nov 5, 2014

Am I pushing you away
with questions?
with excuses?
with confessions?

Are you too uncomfortable?
Is this too much
quiet
to speak about?

Must I be aware
of each insecurity,
so that they don't
trickle down the
altar
and distort where
our focus
should be?

You ask me to
reevaluate
why I need words
of affirmation...
a language of love
I am baffled by.

-

Don't sabotage this love
(oh loveless one).

    Loving this!

I can so relate to this, and I really like your layout short and choppy, it works well for the theme of the poem.

I can picture this as a relationship between two people and yet the main thing in the relationship seems to be silence, insecurity and perhaps arguments stemming from such things.

I totally agree with this part:

    and distort where
    our focus
    should be?

I thought this was greatly worded to produce that point.

I like your title choice for the poem too, I think it really does show that place of real insecurity and lack of trust, the ability of defence in where we push everything around us away, just to feel that safety.

Very deep write for a short little piece. I enjoyed it.
