You bandage my wounds

before bedtime

without judgement

without a scowl

without any anger

rising from within,

reminding me over again

to not apologize.

Your touch is gentle

though your hands are

strong and rough.

I let you hug me

at the end

as you admit

"it means everything

to see you smile"...

and I hope I can fight this,

hurt you as little as possible,

be able to speak when I am

overwhelmed and life drags me down

so I can be raised up

all for you.

    I have a strange relationship with my father but I love this piece. I could put myself in your shoes and completely understand what you were feeling. I love the wording here especially at the end when you are talking about being raised up but for him not just you. I love how sweet this piece is and it is completely wonderful.
