Unobserved

by Baby Rainbow   Nov 16, 2014

Flames spark like
exploding lava,
as I painfully watch
my family home
burn to the ground.

Childhood memories
flash before my eyes,
whilst the earth swallows up
every souvenir we ever kept.

Helplessness consumes me,
as strangers point and gaze
in my direction, but they do
not seem to notice the desperate
panic in my eyes.

I feel like I am trapped
inside a freeze-frame of hell,
which has been painted
with acrylic, and framed
on a wall for display.

But exhibitors fail to see
what I can see,
as memories vastly burn
right in front of me.

Emotions get the best of us a lot of times and often we feel burnt out and undesirable. This poem shows great sympathy for the person in the painting and they can do nothing but stand in awe of the people looking from outside living their lives as if nothing as happened. The wording is splended as it details every moment captured. It is symbolic that strangers don't help, because this is what the earth is coming to nowadays, I do like how you put that in. The irony here is that you want to keep your feelings hidden yet, they are painted and hung for the world to gaze at. And you feel that no one can understand the world you live in. Because it, itself is strange to a stranger. Great write 5/5. Nominated.
