Sleeping Spirits

by Baby Rainbow   Nov 16, 2014

Trees cry
as secret memories
wander the abandoned path
that young dreamers
used to dance along.

Tears vanish
amongst shadows of longing,
before the moment
where imperfect dreams strayed
whilst dead spirits fell asleep.

Very deep poem. I love your poetic style and voice for this poem. Somewhat haunting...it entices the reader to read it again and again.

Trees are like ancient people who have stood the tests of time and are witnesses to the changing of an environment as well as the people.

Here you have given trees character and feeling. I especially like the second verse for it brings out the human nature of a tree; where some mercilessly slay it. Touching write!

I've never seen trees as the main character before, it was really interesting to do this perspective. It seems as if the trees know all the secrets this path holds and the details they remember. This memory brings about a peaceful time where happiness grew and everyday it blossomed more. But for the present the path has grown abandoned. Spirits rest within this path and they hold the memories that captured the innocence that we all hold. Spirits rest but are they really sleeping? Great write, 5/5
