The Praying Mantis Cha-Cha

by Maple Tree   Nov 22, 2014

Star shadows wept
as marigold shades
crept into the night,
silhouetted insects
praying to the
goddess of nature.

Dew drops hither,
whispering percussion
promenades,
as Mantis pray
upon melodies.

Winged hips spiral,
"cha-cha" dancing
begins-

Hushes of night moves,
woodland masquerading-

Under the Moon of madness
they come alive....

That title... ah, that title made my day! I also like how you described the moon as the "Moon of madness", puts a new spin on my perception of the moon.

Nice read, you make this mantis come alive on the page.

I like nature pieces and this is just wonderful.

    "Dew drops hither,
    whispering percussion
    promenades,
    as Mantis pray
    upon melodies"

    Simply mesmerizing.
