To death, from me

by Dancing Rivers   Nov 23, 2014

What use is a word
when it merely emphasises silence?
I'm sorry should never be heard,
It's a phrase that inspires violence!

What use is the promise of Heaven,
when down on earth we mourn?
Pain that's fold-seven
twists a heart already torn.

Death is a magical mystery,
he always seems to evade
the common rules of ettiquecy,
in order to prevail.

Oh death, you old friend,
you're as an eternal lover,
faithful till the end,
even when life is over.

Death, you mock me,
in my dreams you visit,
and your secrets I see
but always I'm titbits.

Once again I met you,
and you named your next conquest,
I didn't believe you,
which I now regret.

Another soul you've taken
from my empty world,
because I was mistaken,
I should heed your every word.

Goodbye for now
goodbye yesterday
goodbye tomorrow
and every other day
