You said the only man i have ever loved
was robert smith.
couldn't defend my unfaithful heart
from his songs:
they wrapped me up in sugar.

robert put a spell on me:
still don't know why.
maybe it was his make up
or his lovecats.
both are mesmerizing.

hope you can forgive me
but robert is my impossible him,
the cure for my insanities
and he still makes music out of my dreams.

he gives me what you couldn't:
my immortal girlie self.
you are part of what i was.
robert is part of what i've always been.

but one thing is unacceptably true:
i loved you too.
