Dominant Emotions

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 1, 2014

Here we go again with our never-ending war,
back to the basement of our own guilt and pain.

How dare you accuse me of trying to destroy
the memories we hold and the bond we used to share!

Tempers flaring, anger building,
raging fires keep us hating.

Words are spoken, unable to retract,
reflexes working as they instantly react.

Another phone call of heated words,
another night of friends being enemies.

We blame each other for the way things are,
yet we never try to change.

So how long will we stay here,
locked inside this basement of dominant emotions?

And if we fail to both move on
and leave the past behind,
then perhaps the time has come
when we must finally part our separate ways.

Often we blame others for our own problems and we blame ourselves for others. But isn't it strange how one person can either change or hinder our lives? This seems to be about a person whose resentment has been building over the last few years and it finally came out to the forefront. The emotions are played well into this piece. I didn't see anything wrong with this. Leaving the past behind is also difficult in a lot of ways, because it is still apart of us and how we live life. Moving on from a person is more difficult but it can be done with time. Great write, 5/5
