Tiptoe Love

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 1, 2014

Imprisoned in a house
where tiptoe love
echoes through the walls
and bounces off my heart.

A love that walks on eggshells,
afraid of being broken -
even though it already is.

Loveless eyes turn into actors,
creating a believable scene -
but only for other's eyes.

But I know better,
and I'm no fool,
for it is I who is living
in this lonely house
where tiptoe love
echoes through my heart.

I really love this concept of this couple who feels trapped within this relationship. They walk around on egg shells around each other because they are afraid of starting a fight, afraid of being broken... yet they already are and are choosing to overlook it. When they are around other people, they are the epitome of love. They put on a show, acting like nothing is wrong and that they have the perfectly relationship...when in fact, that is farthest from the truth. The ending is heartbreaking... it shows that the character does truly care about their significant other. They aren't blind or a fool, they know their relationship isn't what it used to be. They're lonely and just don't know how to fix it so maybe they just continue to do the same routine of not acknowledging the problems, afraid that if they did, it would all crumble and the other person may leave for good.

    Great write!

I love this poem saffie, nominated! Pretending to be okay when you are not at all, is difficult to pull off, so I loved how you used the word "actors". Your eyes really do tell a story about the life you live and have lived. Love is broken here and you cannot fix it at all. I find it sad when kind people get hurt. Tiptoe is interesting here though. I believe it can represent a love that was secret, that not even the person you loved knew or maybe you two were living in a different world from the rest. You are lonely now as well. I love how this played out because each stanza holds a different view point. On one hand you have a reality that is difficult for you to live in but the other is where you want to live but can't. 5/5
