Chasing Dreams

I chased the dream
as it faded out of sight,
my passion for life going with it.

You felt so close,
I could almost touch you,
almost feel your beating heart,
and hear your voice again.

But the heart-wrenching pain
instantly kicks in when I look
out my eyes and see nothing.

It is in these breathless moments
that my future seems so unclear,
and the only thought that enters my mind is,

will I still recognise you
when I get to heaven tonight?
