Unlike Love

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 28, 2014

I want to lie with you to tell you the truth
There is no eye for an eye tooth for a tooth
There is no dog eat dog or son of a witch
That could ever mend my torn heart stitch by stitch
Seems I have been broken by stormy weather
There's no more glue left to hold us together
Nothing but dust at the bottom of the well
We cannot unring our cracked liberty bell
Sometimes serenity and peace is better
I just hope you don't mind my late love letter

I would say Dylanesque for your use of cliches in a newly original manner. On the other hand, the style really is pure Nalley and better in that way. The tongue in cheek delivery is perfect.

Wow, I enjoyed this. Normally I do not like unpunctuated poems but for some reason, your poetry does not seem to bother me. I think it might be the way you lay it out, because without the punctuation it is still easy to read, and it also still makes sense.

    Beautiful write.
