River Rocks

by Maple Tree   Dec 30, 2014

The first time I gazed upon the sweetest face in New York-

His eyes were like river rocks,
Smooth, earthy brown,
Years of tears had smoothed
Out the rough edges.

A hint of sunshine captured
A soft, calming effect in
His smile.

I got lost in the pure goodness
Of his soul, making me forget
We were in the middle of an up
And coming snowstorm.

It was February, month for lover's-

As he waited patiently in his car,
Tucked snuggly in his leather jacket,
I walked as slow as I possibly could.

I had to savor this moment,
I fell in love with his eyes,
River to his soul.

He became my husband by midsummer....
