Car Safety

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 31, 2014

I remember the safest place I could ever find
was in the back seat of your car.

The click of the seat belt a reassurance;
a click that would buy me some time.

My mind raced faster than the wheels
and my heart beat louder than the engine,
trying to plan a way to escape-
even though rigidly seated I would remain.

I don't often pray for disasters,
but back then all I could do
was pray for a traffic jam
to stall the plans you had for me.

Even though in time
you realised my safe place
and made it another place of hell,
I will always remember the safest place
being the back seat of your car.
