Goodbye, My Great Friend

by Brittany Klein   Jan 4, 2015

January 3rd 2015

This house has been so quiet
It seems time has stood still
I have not gone a day since
Without having a crying spill.

I miss his slobbery mouth
And the twinkle in his eyes
I miss all of his energy
And the way he always tries.

He looked like a giant
But was only a teddy bear
He loved getting attention
His 165 pounds of love and hair.

I notice the empty couch
And think of nobody but you
That was your place in and out
We all know it to be true.

He had so much heart
And fought through so much pain
I wish we could have vanished it away
Wash the hurt right down the drain.

I'm going to miss the laughs
We had just watching him
His personality was the best
It made your heart and soul grin.

I will miss all those times
It was a struggle to get you to go out
We would see you peek one eye open
And ignore us without a doubt.

Those little growls you made
When you tried to tell us a thing or two
I'm going to miss those sounds
And the words you spoke too.

I know Simba has become lost
He continues to search for you
I think he has started to figure out
That you wont be back anytime soon.

Mojo, I hope you have a life now
That is fun and pain free
And just remember one thing
To watch the gates for me.

I will meet you again one day
Then we shall run free and play
Meet you at heaves gate
On some other day.

Love you Mojo. Miss you so much buddy.

I can see your soul in the words... so expressive and shows the pain when those we love move on. Those we love walk on two and sometimes four legs. Love is love

Whatever he,she,it is, losing something so dear for us is the hardest thing we can deal with. I dont think there is anything that makes us feel as helpless and powerless as much as loss.

This is a very beautiful and genuine touching poem. I am sorry for your loss.

This poem flowed throughout the poem it was very nice to read, it never makes it better to hear someone tell me "I'm sorry for your loss" so I'll tell you like you wrote in your poem, you'll find your companion in heaven one day. There's nothing wrong with the poem it's flawless, and it's a great tribute to a fallen pet, that maybe it will take a while to get over but it's a very good memory after the pain fades away, trust me all pets are. Great job on the imagery, the emotions, and the way you pulled the reader to keep on reading on, while adding beauty to it, even while it breaks your heart. 5/5
