The Bluebird

by Everlasting   Jan 4, 2015

If I were birds like those above our heads,
The ones that fly by fluttering their wings,
I want to be that blueish one that sings,
So I may sing to you as the tide ebbs.
And while, you sit in here, upon this bench,
And while, you feel the sand amid your toes,
I want to sing to you in verse or prose,
Until my voice becomes the waves that drench
your mind and soul with joy as the sun sets.
And as the moon appears before our eyes,
And as the stars illuminate the skies,
I want to sing to you without regrets,

Until my songs become the sea you hear,
Until my songs become the sea you feel,
Until you wish to swim in me,
Until you wish I was the sea you see,
Until you start to drown in me,
Until you wish I was a bird again,
so you could find a time to rest and breathe.

And as the sun begins to rise, in here,
And as you begin to exude a yawn,
And while you sit upon this bench at dawn,
And as the breeze cools down the atmosphere,
I want to be that bird you wish I'd be,
so I could fly into your hands and feel
the coldness of your skin having reveal,
the yearn for you that I could be just me,
so I could wrap my arms around your arms,
so I could place my hands upon your hands,
And in a cuddle flee to warmer lands
where we could feel safe in each other arms

While watching the birds fluttering their wings,
while watching the bluebird happily sing.

Everlasting makes me smile when she writes nature poems.

She has such a unique outlook on things and the way she scribes her poems. A writer all of her own style, it's a delight to read.

I became speechless with the message and flow of this piece.

The style of repetition within this piece is just what this poem needed to stand out above the rest.

Bluebirds are inspiring, nature is breathtaking and this poem is truly elegant!
